7 Reasons To Get Your Home’s A/C System Serviced

Does your home have an air conditioning system installed in it? If so, what you will need to do is make sure that it is always working as it should. Otherwise, you could end up with an inefficient setup that wastes electricity and could eventually land you with a hefty repair bill. The sad truth about home air conditioning systems is many homeowners think they seldom need any maintenance or repairs. Some of those people even believe they don’t need to do anything about their setup unless it stops working!

But, prevention is always better than the cure, and to that end, it’s worth getting your home’s air conditioning system serviced at least once a year. If you’re still not convinced, the following seven reasons will change your mind on the subject:

1. Prevents premature failure of your a/c system

Perhaps the most obvious benefit of getting your air conditioning setup checked and serviced annually is that you’ll identify components that could potentially cause the whole system to stop working.

Let’s face it, the last thing you want is for your air conditioning system to fail in the middle of a sweltering hot day during the summer! At such a point, you may find repair costs higher than usual due to excessive demand for a/c repair services.

2. Ensures your a/c system is safe

Believe it or not, some people’s homes have caught fire due to faulty air conditioning systems. According to the National Fire Protection Association, broken air conditioning systems cause an astounding $82 million in property damage annually. And tragically, an average of 20 people per year lose their lives in extreme cases.

When you use your a/c system during the summer months, you’ll put more strain on it due to its constant operation. If you invest in annual HVAC repair services, you’ll significantly lessen the likelihood of your home catching fire due to a faulty air conditioner.

3. Extends the working life of your air conditioner

If you bought your home with an air conditioning system already installed, you may not realize how expensive it can be to have a complete setup fitted. Unless you’ve got deep pockets, you will doubtless wish to avoid the expense of purchasing a brand new air conditioner for your abode.

With that in mind, you can extend the working life of your existing air conditioner by having annual checks and repairs carried out to it.

4. You’ll feel cooler in the summer

When air conditioning systems start to develop faults, their ability to keep your home cool gets diminished. In extreme circumstances, you may even feel like you haven’t got air conditioning operating in your property!

The good news is that you can ensure your house feels icy cold inside when the temperatures are skyrocketing outside with a fully-maintained air conditioner. HVAC engineers will check all aspects of your a/c setup and test everything as part of their work.

5. You’ll keep your electricity costs down

Like many machines and systems that we use in our daily lives, air conditioners have electric motors running inside of them. When an electric motor begins to fail due to worn parts or extreme operating environments, they have to work harder and thus will consume a lot more electricity than usual.

If you want to ensure your air conditioner’s electricity consumption is low, you need to get it scheduled for a system health check at least once a year.

6. You won’t void the air conditioner’s warranty

Have you got a relatively new air conditioning system in your home? If the answer’s yes, you’ll no doubt be aware it comes with a guarantee. Of course, such warranties are only applicable if you keep your end of the bargain, and that is to ensure the system is well-maintained by professionals.

Should a part inside of your air conditioner become faulty through no fault of your own, the manufacturer has a legal obligation to get it replaced for you. But, if a part becomes faulty due to lack of maintenance, it’s unlikely you’ll get a free repair.

7. You’ll ensure the best air quality in your home

Lastly, it’s worth remembering that a well-maintained air conditioning system will consistently provide a high quality of air in your home. Air conditioners are useful for people that suffer from dust allergies or have respiratory conditions such as asthma.

If you don’t keep your air conditioning system maintained, the air quality in your home could plummet and cause all kinds of health problems.
