Solutions To Backpacking and Travelling Holdbacks

by - January 16, 2018

When it comes to travelling, the daydream usually involves packing a bag and taking off with no ties or responsibilities left behind. In real life, that is seldom the case, and travelling tends to happen in spite of those responsibilities. There are plenty of things that can prevent you from travelling- and especially if you never took the advantage of being young and taking a gap year then you may be itching to step on to a different continent. Certain things commonly hold the travel lover in you back, however that is not the be all and end all of ticking off your bucket list. Here are some options that could help you to finally take the leap and pack your bag ready for the adventure you have always wanted to experience.

For many people, the anxiety of leaving their job and heading for the nearest airport can fill them with so much dread it doesn’t seem worth it. However, with the paycheck they are receiving it is near impossible to save for the amount of travelling they are longing to achieve. If you are in a similar situation, you may want to consider working whilst you travel. Of course, this still means having the courage to pack up and leave your current life, but you will have to weigh up the pros and cons to see if it is worth it for you personally. The cons are obviously leaving your home, family and job for a few months. The pros are you will potentially be fulfilling a lifelong dream and will be able to completely immerse yourself in another culture for an extended period of time. You could potentially learn a new language, experience the country through a local’s eyes and experience a wide range of food. There are plenty of pros for this option, and if you have wanted to do this for your entire life - you won’t need this option suggested twice.

They are the lights of our lives, but they also hold us back from travel experiences as it is incredibly hard to leave them. Kennels aren’t the only option if you have a cat, dog or small pet. Dog boarding is a great option for your canine friend as they are entirely cage-free, but offer private places and nap areas for all the dogs to be able to get some peace and quiet. You can also find holiday homes for cats and small animals, as many animal lovers run small businesses from their own home. They usually own their own pets and are experienced in looking after others. This option allows you to relax whilst your away knowing your pet is in good hands, and will return to you happy, relaxed and well looked after. That being said, you may want to take short bursts of travel rather than a long period away as both you and your pet will miss each other a lot.

Fear Of Flying
Fear and anxiety can have a major hold on your life, to the point that it can actually stop you from leaving your house or achieving your main wants and goals when it comes to wandering the world. Luckily, there are plenty of other options depending on where your journey is beginning. If in Europe, the Eurostar or Interrailing is a fantastic alternative, or if elsewhere in the world there are plenty of cruises that will take you to a number of destinations one way or return. Even though this is not facing your fear as commonly suggested, it means your fear will no longer have to hold you back.

Hopefully, this has solved a few of your travel holdbacks ready for you to start planning your 2018 adventure.
