Affordable Ways to Make your Home More Luxurious

by - January 16, 2019

Having your home just as you want it is all part and parcel of living there. But when you have a certain budget to work to, it can feel like you’re never going to have the glam or stylish luxury home that you have always wanted. You might be thinking of opulent furniture and some pretty upscale decor when you think of a luxury home, but it doesn’t have to be that way at all, and certainly doesn’t have to cost that amount either. You can simply make a few small changes and then you can make the home feel luxurious, but without having to spend a fortune. Here are some of the ways that you can add some affordable luxury to your home, so that you’ll be getting your dream home in no time.

Simplify and Declutter

OK, hands up; who has been watching the Marie Kondo shows on Netflix.com? They are becoming more and more popular and they are all about simplifying and decluttering your life. This time of year can feel like a good time to do just that, and you can start in different areas of your home and then go from there. Any room is going to look much more luxurious and classy when it isn’t full of clutter, junk, broken toys, or piles of paperwork. So choose a room to start in and then you can go from there.

Feature Furniture

If you want to add some elements of luxury, but the budget isn’t going to stretch to a whole range of luxury priced items, then think about getting one or two pieces and then working around it all. You could look at sites like Eames.com where there are marketplaces for sellers to sell their luxury Eames furniture, so even then, you can still grab a bargain. Think about the accessories that you use in the room too, to make sure that the compliment the feature furniture, and add to the luxury look rather than detract from it.

Flowers and Greenery

If you have fresh (or good looking faux) flowers in the home, then it gives it a feel of elegance and luxury (as we all know that flowers aren’t always cheap). A room can be quite neutral, but add in some house plants or flowers and it takes the opulence up a level. Fresh flowers can be expensive to keep up with though, so think about house plants, succulents, or things like orchids as more sustainable versions; the sight and the smells of fresh flowers in the room is a wonderful thing.

Layer Decor

Although a room doesn’t want to feel too cluttered with ‘stuff’ in the home, adding to your decor in layers can be a great way to add a luxury feel to it all. For example, if you have hardwood or tile floors, they can be dressed up with a rug or layering up sofas with throws and cushions. You can frame a window and blinds with drapes, as another example. It all adds to the look and adds touches of luxury.
