When you first move into a new place, or you know that your home needs a bit of a spruce, the idea of a remodel can scare you a little. Because when we think of remodeling, we immediately see a big job. Depending on the size of your property and how many rooms you’re looking to remodel, this can be something that completely overwhelms you. But this is usually how you feel when you see the big picture. When you’re looking to remodel, you always want to break it down. When you’re able to trim down the job and work on manageable steps, you’ll often find that you have a much better chance of being able to tackle the work with ease. So let’s take a look at the best way to approach your home remodel.

1. Find Your Inspiration

Up first, you always want to make sure that you’re finding your inspiration. Whether you want to spruce up one room, or you’re working on a fixer-upper, you need to have vision. If you can’t see the end goal or what your finished project will look like, you won’t be able to work through the right steps. So, when you’re approaching a new interiors project, you need to know what you’re trying to create. Get a bunch of interiors magazines and hit up Pinterest. By working out what kind of styles you like, you can then start working towards a very clear vision for the finished look.

2. Consider The Empty Space

So you’ve gotten some very clear inspiration on the finished look. But now you need to make sure that it will work with what you’ve got. To do this, you need a blank canvas. You’re going to want to strip out the rooms that you’re working with - whether it’s the entire house or a smaller portion. By ripping everything out, you know what an empty space that you can start to build upon.

3. Add On & Rejig

Now it’s time to get a bit more serious. This means that you’re going to want to consider the empty space and what you want to do with it. Are you hoping to extend? Or maybe you want to rearrange the layout of the rooms you have? By approaching the project in this way, you’ll be able to make the best use of the space that you have.

4. Nail Your Styling

From here, it’s time to work in your interior decor choices and finish off with room styling. Once you’ve got your paint and wallpaper up, and your flooring is sorted, you then need to furnish. This can be the most important step. Whether you choose traditional furniture or modern alternatives, you have to style them. By adding in each piece one at a time, you will be able to create the right look for the finished space.

5. Don’t Forget The Outside

Finally, be sure to head outside and get to work on this space too. But make sure that you do it once all of the work on the interiors is finished. When you’ve started to landscape the yard and showcase your driveway, your remodel will be complete.
