Low On Energy? Here’s How To Kick-Start Even The Most Depressing Of Days

by - January 11, 2018

At this time of year, it’s safe to say that we’re all left feeling a little worse for wear. It’s cold, dark, and the winter blues have firmly set in. And it’s usually a combination of all three that makes you feel low on energy most of the time. Even when you want to have a good day, and you think you’re feeling motivated, that can all start to change when you don’t have the energy to see it through. But this doesn’t mean you have to stay like this until spring sets in. In fact, you can learn to kick-start your energy levels so that you feel productive and ready to take on even the most depressive of days. Here’s how.

Set Your Alarm A Little Earlier

First of all, you’re going to want to get started at home. So you’re going to want to think about setting your alarm just that little bit earlier. Seeing as you’re probably getting to bed a few hours earlier at this time of year, this shouldn’t impact on your sleep. As long as you’re getting a good 7-9 hours of sleep each night, getting up earlier will actually be better for you. Even if it’s just thirty minutes or an hour, by rising a little earlier, you will make more time in your mornings to get on track.

Eat An Exciting Breakfast

Next on your list, you’re going to want to get an exciting breakfast together. Because when you have something tasty to eat in the mornings, you’ve also got something to look forward to and this will motivate you to get up early. With some unique and easy breakfast ideas, you’ll be able to fuel your body so that you have more energy first thing in the morning too.

Find A Workout You Love

Whether you realize it or not, exercise gives you energy. It’s so easy to think that this is going to exhaust you, or take your energy levels away, but actually it does the opposite. So even when you’re not in the mood, you’re going to want to work exercise into your daily routine. This means you have to find a workout that you love, whether it’s yoga or running or something like hiking, by committing to a form of exercise each week, you will feel more energized.

Get Indulgent In The Evenings

From here, you’re also going to want to start making the most of your evenings. And this can be the most important thing of all. Because you need to wind down and sleep well to have more energy. Not only might that involve looking into the cheapest sleep sound machines, but also finding bath salts or a good book so that you can relax before bed too.

Make Plans

And it’s always good to have something to look forward to. So make sure you get some plans in place with your friends and family. From events and catch ups to a break away in the summer, when you have plans to look forwards, you’re more motivated to get through your days and get to the plans.
