A Family Weekend To Remember!

by - January 12, 2018

Family time is one of the most precious things that many of us have, and yet we don’t realize that we haven’t made enough time for it before it’s too late. Fear not: it’s not too late to change that now. Your kids won’t be young forever, and they certainly won’t always want to do things with you. Plan a weekend to remember as often as possible and you’ll have so many incredible memories to look back on as your kids grow up.

Here are some pointers you can use to help you have the best weekend ever:

Plan Your Weekend Together
Don’t just plan the weekend trip for the whole family. Where’s the fun in that? Get them involved too! Planning it together will build up suspense and excitement, plus you can make sure that everybody is happy and knows what to expect. This is especially important if you’re travelling with moody teenagers. Try to incorporate something that everybody will enjoy by asking them to get involved in the planning stage.

Do Something You Always Talk About Doing
Is there something you always talk about doing as a family, but you’ve never got around to doing? There are so many fun things you can try, from rafting to rock climbing. Staying active together as a family will definitely help you all to bond and bring you closer than ever. Don’t just talk about it anymore; get out there and do it.

Find Somewhere Great To Stay
Although you may only be planning a fun weekend and not have a reason to get out of the house, listen up. Finding temporary housing for a few days is going to make this weekend feel like a little holiday. Sometimes, all a family needs is to get out of the house to let go of work, school, and other things that can be stressing them out.

Have Fun Doing Things You Don’t Usually Have Time For
Try to incorporate the things you don’t usually have time for as a family. For example, simple things like eating your meals together and playing board games. Really appreciate these things as you do them on your weekend.

Stay Away From Technology
One thing bound to mess up your weekend quickly? Technology. You’re trying to spend quality time together as a family and yet somebody has their face in a screen and they won’t pull it out. We all need to live in the moment more, and stop scrolling on Facebook looking at people we don’t care much about. This will likely be harder for the kids, so make sure you set the ground rules in advance and make them forget about this fact by emphasizing all of the fun you’re going to have. You don’t have to take away their phones completely - let them send a quick message to a friend, but mindless scrolling should definitely be stopped.

Make the most of the weekends you spend together as a family - you’ll remember them forever.
